Superior Product
My mattress arrived much earlier than expected!

I have prefered to sleep on the floor for the past 10 years and I am a side sleeper. Traditional mattresses make my back ache. My current apartment has concrete floors with thin carpet installed. I purchased this mattress after reading all the reviews and am 100% satisfied with it in every regard. Additionally, it fits in perfectly with my Asian themed bedroom. As other reviewers indicated, it arrives vacuum packed and resumes it's normal shape and size upon taking it out of the sealed bag. The outer cardboard box had normal shipping/handling dents, but was totally intact. There was no odor that other reviewers mentioned. I give this mattress a score of 100% on everything: exactly as described, quality, comfort, and usefullness. The stitching is well done and should hold up indefinitely. Tri-fold mattress
This arrived vacuum-sealed in a package so compact, I thought they sent me the wrong item at first. However as soon as you unwrap it, it inflates to normal size (3x27x75). It made my shiki futon even more comfortable than a regular bed mattress. After 1 month of use, there is no deforming at all.

I still think heavier-than-average people wouldn't want to sleep on this, but it's perfect if you weigh under 150 lbs or so.
Shikibuton
I bought this shikibuton while moving out of a dorm and into a house, as I had no bed of my own and didn't feel like buying/lugging a whole bed into my new place. The shikibuton is surprisingly soft, not as soft as a regular floor futon, but more firm. It is a bit short; I'm 5'8, and with pillows added I just barely fit stretched out. It folds up nicely as well. At first it does have a strong chemical odor which seems to have bothered other purchasers, but it doesn't bother me, and it goes away in time. It's also more absorbent than one would think. As for delivery, it reached me in time and in good shape, though unwrapping it from the plastic is an adventure. An excellent buy, overall, one I'm glad I made.

Highly recommended.
We have owned a Protect-A-Bed Premium Mattress Protector since we purchased our new mattress when we got married, two and a half years ago. At first we were a little put off by the price, seeing as how we could have purchased another brand for at least half the price. The retailer ensured us that it was the best mattress protector on the market; and we have come to agree with him.

First of all, we didn't want a bulky mattress protector that would change the feel of the very nice mattress we had just purchased. And we didn't want something that would make us sweat, or would crinkle, or any of the other annoying characteristics generally associated with mattress protectors.

Waterproof Mattress Protector
I reviewed lots of mattress pads and am pretty satisfied. The cover itself is fairly thin. It's definitely not luxurious. However, it is made out of breathable material and will fit over any mattress -- even extra deep. And good news, it doesn't make the crinkly sound that many covers do. Moreover, you don't feel as though you're sleeping on on a garbage bag. Basically, once it's on, you won't notice it, which is a good thing. For the price, it's a good value.
Not Waterproof!!
I ordered one of these to use while potty training. When it came I was really excited about the fact that it was not a noisy, bulky rubber sheet type of mattress protector. In fact, I liked it so much I ordered two more. They were great for a couple of washes. I followed the washing instructions and soon enough the waterproofing material started to get holes in it ans are no longer effective for waterproofing. In fact, we now have a ruined mattress on our hands. I was very disappointed..still am really. I guess it was too good to be true.

Good casual chair at a decent price
Lightweight, comfortable & the cover material is nice. It is basically as described, however, the length of the sleeper part of it is a little deceiving. The bolster that makes up the chair back is actually upright when the chair is unfolded so it isn't laying flat when used as a bed (as shown in the picture). The actual flat surface is 64 inches and the additional 6 inches to make 70 is the bolster's width. The bolster is at least 4-5 inches higher than the surface of the bed & could interfere with your pillow. I'm 5' 4" & it is fine as a bed for me, but I'm not sure someone taller than that might be as comfortable, since their feet may be hanging off the end. It's for this, that I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars. A Quick Note: it was vacuum packed to reduce its shipping size (cost savings), but I opened it and laid it flat in the morning before work and when I returned later that day, it was its original shape. All in all, I like the product.

Photo Exaggerates the look of item, ACTUALLY A LOW SLUNG 30 INCH SQUARE
This item is OK but the photo exaggerates the size of it. It is about the size of a kid's chair and no where near the size of a futon as the picture implies. Make sure you look at the dimensions. I know I should have, but I just skimmed over the description and thought it was 70 inches wide and 30 inches (out from the wall) when folded up as a couch as the picture kinda implies, but it is ONLY 70 inches long when unfolded as a bed and 30 inches wide. WHEN IN THE FOLDED UP POSITION AS THE TOP PART OF THE PICTURE, IT IS BASICALLY 30 INCHES SQUARE. Still debating whether this is false advertising or my not looking into more detail at the product, but the more I think about it, it seemed misleading to get me to think I was getting a futon sized sized seat. If I had known this I would have invested my money in a Futon. To much of a pain to send back so I can only deal with the power of the web review.

The Best Mattress... and a little about JLife, Int.
I just purchased a full size a bed frame, shikifuton mattress, 3 buckwheat pillows, a mattress cover, and extra matching material from JLife international. I dealt with them directly, not through Amazon, but I wanted to put my review here to be seen. The mattress is incredible, exactly what I had hoped it would be. It is NOT for everyone. You must desire an EXTRA FIRM support. If you're hoping for the effect of a pillow top mattress, or a tempurpedic type mattress, this probably isn't for you. I have discovered, after many years, that I need a VERY firm mattress. I've actually slept on a carpeted floor with only a comforter beneath me to get this effect. In recent years, I bought a platform bed and used a foam mattress topper ONLY, without the mattress, in an attempt to get a very firm sleeping surface. Excellent product, but appallingly bad customer service.
I bought the full-size Shiki Futon mattress with a custom purple cover. It arrived quickly and in excellent condition. I came home from work one day, and there it was, waiting in a large box in my foyer. All I had to do was take the mattress out of the box, slip the cover on, and move it onto the bed. I thought it would be heavy, but I only needed one other person to help me. The mattress feels firm, so be prepared if you are used to softer mattresses.

Although my first transaction with J-Life was smooth, the second one was pretty upsetting. I ordered a second mattress, and, unlike the first time, J-Life told UPS (without my knowledge and without saying so in the fine print of the delivery confirmation) to obtain an in-person signature confirmation. After the first delivery attempt, I signed the slip along with a written note of consent to UPS saying that they could leave it at the door. Counterpoint to those who had to wait forever...
I almost didn't order this futon because of the reviews saying that they had waited for a month with no contact from J-life, but as others have said I couldn't really find anything comparable and I wanted something made in the USA.

I ordered it on a Thursday morning, and it was sitting outside my door the next day. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I only ordered the mattress, no cover, no pillows, nothing else. Maybe those items are what delayed other's orders. Also, it shipped out of New Hampshire, and I live in New York, so it didn't have too far to go, but the main point is that it shipped out the same day I ordered it and J-life contacted me immediately with a tracking number.

I've only had a couple nights with it, but as far as comfort and quality go I couldn't be happier so far.

These are great!
I was very unsure when I purchased this product if it was what I wanted. I am so glad that I gave it a try. I don't usually write reviews, but I really could have used some good reviews when I was considering this.

Why I bought this:

1. I live in NYC and anything space-saving and multi-purpose is great.
2. I wanted an organic mattress, but could't really afford it, so I think going for something smaller is generally better for the environment than bigger (mattress, boxspring, bed frame)
3. My husband and I co-sleep with our baby and we wanted a King size (approximately) bed without taking up so much space. Also, this is low to the ground, so no need to worry about baby falling off of it.

Why this is so great:

Unusable
We ordered this futon for our son's room, because he occasionally has nightmares and instead of having him in bed with us, we thought it might be nice if we could go into his room to lie down to help soothe him.

When this futon arrived, I thought it was interesting because it came in such a TINY box - I thought I had ordered the wrong item. Actually, it turns out that it was just vacuum-packed with all the air sucked out. As soon as you open the plastic bag, the futon "inflates" to full-size. It was kind of cool to watch.

Colorwise, the futon was perfect. Size-wise, it is pretty thin, and I wouldn't use it on a hard floor, but it would probably be fine on a carpeted floor. I was very pleased with the way it folded up.

Unfortunately, however, it STUNK. The futon had an extremely strong chemical smell. I do not know what smelled, whether it was the foam, the cover, or the vacuum-sealing process (and the bag it was sealed in) but within moments, the...

No complaints
There's nothing exciting about this product, but we're satisfied with it. It was easy to put on our son's futon-style mattress and has thus far has performed well at protecting said futon when said son's prolific bladder overwhelms his Pull-Ups at night. It has no smell, doesn't feel like it's going to rip when we move the zipper, and it feels like fabric (not completely soft like a sheet, but definitely not crinkly plastic like some of the cheap-o mattress covers out there).

Fits bigger...
Purchased this cover for a 10" memory foam mattress. Was a little worried it would not fit, seeing the item is described as 9", but it fit just fine:-) Very easy to slide onto the mattress, and it covers the entire (top, bottom, sides) of the mattress. Best part: it is MADE IN USA!!! We have not had bedbugs, but the fact that this cover protects the mattress against it (mattress is in guestbedroom) makes me not stress out about guest bringing bugs into my house and me having to throw out all my mattresses! Great product, a little pricey for a cover, but it still worth paying more just to know it is made here in the USA and NOT in China like almost every other product out there.

My Savior
I bought the queen size version of this exact futon on eBay for $125. Amazon did not offer bigger sizes. I wanted more room for me to sleep and if I had company over they could share it with me. It fits two people very well. These are the dimensions to the futon I bought 3" thick x 60" wide x 80" long.

My sister lives in Japan so she gave me advice on what kind of futon to get and this is the one I picked.

PROSPECTIVE BUYERS:
-These are very comfortable. This is so close to a bed I can't feel the difference.
-Skip the inflatables, cots, and what-nots. You don't have to worry about pumps and punctures.
-I highly recommend them for ANY usage (everyday, when company is over, college, camping trips etc.)
-Easy to store and transport. Just roll it up and bam! done. You can carry it alone.
-I tested my futon on carpet and on hard floors. It's just as comfortable either way.

Excellent floor Futon
This was on my Fiancee's wish list. I purchased it from FutonFurnitures' amazon store. The item arrived quickly and in good condition. I let my Fiancee open it early as we had just set up the Christmas tree and we wanted to sleep near the tree to enjoy the ambiance. She said it was the best she had slept in a long time. She has ordered one for me for Christmas now and I eagerly await my floor futon (shikibuton).
Better than I thought it would be
I purchased this as a replacement for a similar futon I purchased on ebay. The futon from ebay was $45. Because I assumed the product came from the same company, I was expecting the thickness to be the same as the one I purchased from ebay. This was not the case. The padding was thicker than my original one from ebay; though it flattens over time, you can fluff it again by opening the futon and adjusting the cotton.

The outer fabric is not as strong as the one I purchased from ebay, but it is still strong enough. My futon from ebay has a canvas-like material which was extremely durable.

If you do not want to spend the money on a J-Life futon, this is well worth the money.

Very strong and lasting chemical stink
I bought a king size version of this mattress from a Tuesday Morning store. The incline works OK, my wife thought it was a bit too firm, but the big problem is the stench.

In the instructions that came with this mattress it stated that there might be an odor, but that any chemical smell was supposed to dissipate within a few days of opening the packaging. Not so. It is now about six weeks and it stinks so bad with an artificial chemical or plastic smell that it is simply not usable. I am going to have to throw this thing away. Don't waste your money on this.

wonderful
This is wonderful!!! It does have an odor at first but I just let it air out a few days before using it. It is sooooo comfortable and gives me the raised head area I need(I have a hiatal hernia and it's suggested I sleep with my head raised) I used a pillow wedge before this but was never really comfortable. If this wears out I will certainly buy another.
EDIT: Very comfortable foam top for your mattress but will not last
Have owned this mattress pad since Jan 2009 and can attest to it being extremely comfortable. The incline takes a little while to get used to but after you sleep on the foam it can be hard to go back to a flat bed. It has helped me snore a lot less and relieved some of the back aches and pains I used to wake up with.
The chemical smell dissipated within a week. I followed the directions and let the foam sit on the bed to fully expand for the day and used it at night.

The only negative I have found is that it has started to wear down after owning it for about 11 months. There are some foam chips in areas and the color is no longer uniform throughout. Also as others have stated normal sized fitted sheets will be a little snug on the headboard side as the foam is thickest there.

Love this item and will recommend it to anyone looking to rejuvenate their older mattress, or just to feel more comfortable and snore less. Will buy another once the price drops as...
